Sept 9, 2020

Dear KMS Parents & Guardians,

The day is finally here!! Tomorrow is the first day of school for the 2020-2021 school year. Although we are only having half of our students here because it's PURPLE day on Thursday, Sept 10, we look forward to welcoming our GOLD students on Friday, Sept 11!

In order for our district to get to the GREEN level and welcome ALL of our students back in the buildings 5 days per week, your help is needed. We ask that you please adhere to CDC guidelines, as well as to the KSD district and building protocols. We can’t wait to get back to normal!

Here is some information on key questions you may have:

Arrival times and procedures

Students who are dropped off by parents should not arrive prior to 7:35AM.

All students will enter the building using the main (front entrance).

There will be a temperature check upon arrival. We ask parents to not send their students to school if they are ill.

Face Coverings

All staff is required to wear face coverings.

Students are required to wear face coverings on buses, when entering/exiting the building, during passing periods in hallways and in common areas. Students are strongly recommended to wear face coverings in indoor instructional settings where physical distancing is not possible. If the student chooses to wear a face shield, they must also wear a mask underneath.

Students will have mask free times at school when they can be properly socially distanced.

Food and Beverages

Students will be allowed and encouraged to have a water bottle to carry throughout the day. No food will be allowed in classrooms.

Lunch will be served in the cafeteria and students will be seated, socially distanced, in the cafe and/or gym areas.

Students will use hand sanitizer when entering and exiting the classrooms.

Teachers will clean and disinfect work areas after each period and shared devices after each use.

Custodial staff will clean common areas on a periodic schedule during the day and also each night.

Visitors & Volunteers

At this time, we are not allowing visitors and guests at KMS during school hours.

If a parent needs to pick up their child, please come to the exterior office window and your student will be dismissed by the office to come to you.

Parents can make appointments with staff. Office hours for teachers are Mon, Tues, Thurs & Fri from 2:50-3:30 and 11:30-2:30 on Wednesdays.

We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we work towards adjusting to this new normal. If you have any questions, please contact the school and keep an eye on your email, the KMS website and the KMS Facebook page for information.

We look forward to a great year!
