Murphy: PAWSITIVE Support

We are excited to announce a new and heartwarming addition to our school community — a certified therapy dog! Murphy will be joining KMS for the 2025-2026 school year. He works alongside Mrs. Heiser in the counseling office to aide in providing comfort, emotional support, and a calm presence in a variety of school settings. You will see his friendly face strolling the building, nose bumps, "squishing," and more!
Why a Therapy Dog?
Numerous studies have shown that therapy dogs in schools can:
Reduce stress and anxiety
Improve mood and emotional regulation
Encourage empathy and social connection

Nicky will be joining our staff for 2026-27 school year! She will be trained in scent detection and therapy. There have been overall benefits with increasing school climate with supporting prevention tactics, increase of safety, and awareness of education tools by having a dog specifically skilled with scent detection.
