ATTENTION 8TH GRADERS:

It is that time of year that the yearbook needs your baby picture. We would like one picture of you from any time from birth to when you were a toddler. We will be adding this picture to the yearbook. You can either bring in a hard copy or send a digital copy. If you have a hard copy, put it in an envelope with your name on it and drop it in the box in the office. If you have a digital copy you can mail it to Mrs. Hoeck's school email address. We need your picture as soon as possible and the last time we will take them will be February. If you have any questions please ask Mrs. Hoeck or one of the yearbook staff.

Kellogg School District will begin the 2021-2022 school year with the understanding that the Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus is spreading rapidly even within our own community. Social distancing and personal hygiene will be stressed as a means of avoiding the virus while the wearing of masks will be highly recommended but not required at this time. KSD encourages all individuals over the age of 12 to get vaccinated. KSD respectfully asks all of our community members to monitor their symptoms, stay home when you are sick, and seek testing for COVID when symptoms arise. As we begin the year with an operating plan as close to "normal" as we can get, please understand this will be subject to change based on the needs of our loved ones here in the Kellogg School District.

To view the approved KSD 391 21-22 Operations Plan, it is available at kelloggschools.org

Middle School Credit Requirements

Students and parents should be aware that the Idaho State Department of Education requires that seventh and eighth grade students earn 80% of the total credits attempted. Additionally, they cannot fail both semesters of the same class. For a Kellogg Middle School student this means they cannot have more than two semester "F" grades or two semester "F" grades in the same subject.

Semester grades are the final grades for the January and June report cards. Students who do not earn the required credits will repeat the grade or need to recover credits in summer school before being promoted to the next grade. Parents are encouraged to track grades on the Skyward system or by having regular communication with the school.

Please contact Mrs. Cheney, the counselor, or Mr. Davidian, the principal if you have any questions about credits. Mrs. Absec, the secretary, has the information for setting up parent Skyward accounts.

Applications for free & reduced price meals may be submitted any time throughout the school year. To apply, an application is available at your child's school or the district office. It can also be found on the Nutrition Services website here:

All applications are strictly confidential and only viewed by the school lunch director. The applications are protected to prevent any kind of discrimination or breach of confidentiality.

Kellogg Middle School has been an Accredited School since 1988, a Merit School since 2000 and was an Exemplary School from 1998-1999 and again from 2000-2004.

Merit status is awarded to schools that show they significantly exceed the State Accreditation Standards and the status is awarded for two years.

Exemplary status is awarded to schools with a program which serves as a pattern or example, conforming to an ultimate form of excellence.
